"Magnetic Rod Technology", which was developed by Ellipse Technologies and can be controlled from the outside. Dr. Metin Kucukkaya was involved with a team of surgeons headed by Dr. Stuart Green on developing the design for the PRECICE Nail (Ellipse Technologies), the first magnetically-driven lengthening nail, a process which started before 2010. The next year, on June 8, 2011, he did the first human implantation in the World. A few months later in December of the same year, it was used for the first time in the United States. What is the Ilizarov Method?
Under the proper biological and mechanical conditions, an osteotomy (cutting of the bone) is performed while protecting the blood flow in the bone, and afterwards the ends of the bone are gradually removed in a controlled manner; this procedure is referred to as “Distraction osteogenesis”.
